SUMMARY:8th Annual SMILE Walk/Run
DESCRIPTION:The 8th Annual SMILE Walk/Run is Sat Apr 1. Registration is $10 and starts at 9 on the main floor of the Wallace McCain Student Center. The SMILE program is run by Mount Allison students\, and the Cumberland SMILE & SHINE Program organization in Amherst. It pairs students from Mount Allison with children and youth in surrounding communities who have special needs. Volunteers and “buddies” meet every Saturday morning during the academic year at the Cumberland YMCA where they play games\, do crafts\, socialize\, cook\, and swim. Proceeds  helps transport volunteers\, purchase cooking and craft supplies\, and overall provide a one-on-one program to children and youth who are often unable to participate fully in other recreation programs. The Smile Program is a program of Cumberland Early Intervention and supported by the United Way of Cumberland County and the Running Room. \n
