Amherst Town Council is considering amending the Land-Use Bylaw for cannabis-related uses. The draft amendments would create definitions for cannabis retail, cannabis consumption lounges, and define where federally licensed production facilities may locate. A public hearing on this matter will be held on Monday at 6:30 in Town Hall Council Chambers. Council will hear submissions in support or opposition. The Grinch is Live in Amherst at the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Center, Thursday at 7. Tickets are $8 cash only, children under 3 free, when accompanied by an adult. The Grinch will tell the story of how he stole Christmas, what it’s like in Whoville, and answers questions from the audience. After the performance get an autograph from the Grinch.

Glow Bingo is coming Fri Dec 21 starting at 6:50 at the Amherst Fire Hall. Get your custom t-shirts ready and collect glow in the dark daubers. Prices will be the same as for regular bingo. This will be a licensed event with a cash bar and music all night long.  

There will a Longest Night Service, Friday Dec 21 at Christ Church Anglican. There will be a quiet candlelight service starting at 7, for anyone who finds this time of year lonely or difficult.

The Amherst Community Christmas Dinner is Christmas Day at the Amherst Lions Center, between 2 and 4. There will be two sittings of up to 200 people.
