Food Drive
The Cumberland Y Service Club, the Amherst Y’s Mennetes and other community volunteers are hold a door to door Food Drive in Amherst, Saturday Sept 29 from 10-noon. If you are not going to be home, leave your food bank bag on your front step. (The Food Bank desperately needs Kraft Dinner, Apple Juice, Peanut Butter, Jam, Cheese Whiz, Instant Coffee, White and Brown Sugar, Canned Meat, Toilet Tissue, Deodorant, Baby Food, Canned Fruit.)

The Highland AME Church is holding a Turkey Supper Saturday from 4-6. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for those 12 and under. You can eat there or take it home, and there will be free delivery within town limits. Call 902-669-0965 for tickets.

There’s a Church Supper at Wesley St Matthews United Church in Pugwash Saturday from 4-6. They will be serving meat loaf and potato scallop with apple crisp for dessert. The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for 6-12 year olds and those under 5 eat free. Proceeds are for the church.

The Amherst 50+ Club is holding a Dance at their club on Croft Street, Saturday from 8-10:30. Music will be by Jerry Metz and Lost Highway. There will be a 50/50 draw, with 2 winners and a light lunch after the dance. Admission is by donation.

There’s a fashion show and dessert afternoon, “Kickin’ It on the Catwalk”, Sunday from 2-4 at the Amherst Lion’s Den. Fashions will be from the Copper Tree Boutique, 3 Arrows Clothing, Jayset, Sharon’s Closet and San Lillies Bridal Boutique. Tickets are $10 and available from students of JC’s Tae Kwon Do or at the door. Proceeds will support JC’s Tae Kwon-Do Competitive Team’s trip to Calgary, and the Lady Tweedsmuir Club. The YMCA of Cumberland’s Strong Kids Ball Hockey Tournament is Thursday Oct 4, 10-3, in the Y parking lot. The cost is $35 per team, with a maximum of 7, minimum of 5 players. Individuals can enter for $7, and will be placed on a team. There are 2 age categories 7-10 and 11-14. Advanced registration is required, at the Y front desk, call 902-667-9112.
