The Amherst and Area Chamber of Commerce is bringing back their Business Awards and Gala Dinner in October. The Chamber is now accepting nominations for Business of the Year in two categories, businesses with fewer than 5 employees and businesses with over 6 employees. Other awards are for Not for Profit and Exporter of the year. Nominations close on Friday. The 154 Amherst Air Cadet Squadron is holding new members night Wednesday night from 6:30-9 at the Colonel James Layton Ralston Armouries. The Cadet program is open to all youth aged 12-18, FREE OF CHARGE. There are countless opportunities available through the Air Cadet program. Some activities included in their regular and optional training programs are: Flights in powered aircraft and gliders, survival training, marksmanship, biathlon, fitness and sports, instruction and leadership training. And there are many summer training opportunities.
