JC’s TaeKwon-Do competition team is having a bottle drive to raise funds to go to the National Championship in Calgary. 15 team members are going, including two members of the team who are trying to make team Canada. They will gladly pick up any empty bottles and cans that you have, until Sept 15. From Sept 15 til Oct2 find them on facebook, for the Kickin’ It To Calgary Online Auction. Bid and bid often.

The 3rd Annual  Working Truck Show and Shine is next weekend, Sept 8-9 at the Amherst Center. Registration starts Saturday at 10, with an entry fee of $20. General admission is by donation. There will be a BBQ and Breakfast on site, music and new vendors. There will be a parade on Sunday at 10. For more information call Bill Dowe at 902-664-6316.

The North Shore Antique Tractor & Engine Club will hold their Annual Field Day on Saturday Sept. 8 from 10 to 3, at the intersection of highway 6 and the Thompson Road about 6 km. east of Pugwash. Antique Tractors & Machinery will be on display and you can take your piece of Antique Equipment and show it off. The group Cornerstone is holding a concert at Wesley St Matthew’s United Church in Pugwash, Sat Sept 8 starting at 7. Admission is a free will offering. Proceeds are for church upkeep.

There’s Pancake Breakfast at the Minudie Hall Saturday from 9-11. They will be serving pancakes, sausages and eggs. The cost is $6 per person. Proceeds to the Minudie Hall.

At the Springhill Library, Meryl Cook author reading from 7-8. In addition to being an author, she is  a contemporary rug hooking artist, a creativity workshop leader and former homeopath. The Amherst and Area Chamber of Commerce is bringing back their Business Awards and Gala Dinner in October. The Chamber is now accepting nominations for Business of the Year in two categories, businesses with fewer than 5 employees and businesses with over 6 employees. Other awards are for Not for Profit and Exporter of the year. Nominations close on Friday.
