There’s an Evening Hymn Sing  at the Historic Church of the Good Shepherd, Tidnish Head Road, on Sunday, July 29th, at 7. Special musicians and singers will include: Bag Piper Eric Graham, Pete Frenette, Clare Canning, Bill Cook and Lawry MacLeod. Free Will Offering going toward the painting of this Historic Church.

The Minudie Heritage Association is serving Breakfast  Saturday starting at 9 at the Minudie Community Hall. Pancakes, sausages and scrambled eggs for $6.  

Join the Red Cross for Volunteer Recruitment Day. Tuesday Aug 7 from 9-4 at their office in Suite B at 16 Church Street. Meet the volunteers, and see what the Red Cross does and learn about the ways to become involved. The Red Cross is hoping to increase their teams by 20 new volunteers.

The Town of Amherst is offering a free Introduction to Track and Field Meet for children 9 and up, Sat Aug 11 at 10 at Rotary Park. Kids will receive some basic instruction, get to meet an Olympian and be able to compete in various track and field events. Information and registration on the Amherst Recreation facebook page.

The Minudie Heritage Association is holding their Annual Quilt Show, Sat and Sun August 11-12 from 10-6 at the Seaman United Church. Admission is $2.

The Annual Blessing of the Crops Mass is Sunday, August 12 at 2 at St. Denis Church. There will be a reception at the St Thomas Aquinas Church Hall in Joggins. There will be an evening concert at 6 at St. Denis Church featuring local entertainers.

Tennis Nova Scotia is presenting a youth Rogers Rookie Tour, Monday Aug 13 from 11-1 at Lions Park Tennis Court. Players must be able to sustain a basic rally. Registration fee is $5 and tennis rackets will be provided.  In the evening Tennis NS will be leading high energy games for adults from 6-8. Registration forms are available at Amherst Town Hall or email familyfirst@amherst.ca by Aug 9 at  noon.

The Town of Sackville will be hosting a Mobile Eco-Depot/Household Hazardous Waste Depot, at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Center, Wed and Thur Aug 15 and 16 from noon-8.   The following items will be accepted: Computer towers, servers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mouse, scanners, printers, fax machines, VCR’s, DVD players, stereos, calculators, telephones, pagers, typewriters, audio/video equipment, computer cords, Batteries, LED bulbs, motor oil, paint, etc.   The following will not be accepted as E-waste: Televisions, microwaves, any type of…
