Horse Drawn Tour of Amherst’s historic district

You can enjoy a 35 minute Horse Drawn Tour of Amherst’s historic district Thursday evenings from 6-9 til October. Meet at Victoria Square. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children, payable in cash to the driver.

Savour The Shore

Savour The Shore, a celebration of Nova Scotia’s North Shore, is Saturday at Northumberland Links. The gates open at 11:30. There will be entertainment on the Tap-In Deck starting at noon with Chris Brown. At 1:30 three generations of the Murray family will perform. Free Fall will follow the Live Auction at 4. Sunset Summer Fair

The Sunset Summer Fair is Saturday from 1-4 at the Sunset Community. There will be children’s games and face painting, a crafts and collectables show, 4-H displays, Sam and Ghost the Husky’s agility show and live music on stage. The Pugwash Volunteer Fire Department will have a demonstration at 1.

The Multi-Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame, will hold a Special Induction and Community Awards Ceremony for the Class of 2018, Wednesday July 18, 6-10 at the Amherst Center. Bill Riley, Mark McFarlane and Craig Martin inducted as well as 5 community leaders, Bob Edgett, Lynn Jones, Elizabeth Cook Sumbu, Janiva Willis and the Royals Hockey team. Kilted Chef

Oxford Frozen Foods is celebrating their 50th Anniversary Sat July 28, with number of events for it’s invited guests. The Town of Oxford is joining the birthday  celebration with an appearance by the Kilted Chef. He will be preparing delicious dishes with town celebrities, using wild blueberries, in Heritage Square from 11-3. And they are free to try as well as free blueberry ice cream. There will be fireworks at 10 at the town ballfield, open to all.

Teddy Bear Picnic

The Springhill Communities in Bloom is hosting a Teddy Bear Picnic on Sunday at 1 at Lions Park in Springhill. Tickets are $5 a child. There will be games, balloon animals, face painting, family photo booth, a visit to the teddy bear doctor, and snack. BBQ will be onsite at an additional cost. Roy Maltby Fundy Hockey School

The Roy Maltby Fundy Hockey School runs Sept 4-11 at the Amherst Stadium. Sportsmanship, social development and skill development of the participants is the main objective. The cost for players is $150, $75 for goalies. Each players gets 10 hours of ice time, including 2 games, off ice sessions, a jersey and free skate sharpening courtesy of Maltby Sports.
