Age of Sail Heritage Festival Weekend
This weekend is Age of Sail Heritage Festival Weekend, in Port Greville. Friday at 7 in the Age of Sail Museum Community Room, join Dick McAllister for an interactive Informative talk on Cape D’or Mining. Bring your photos and share! Admission is a donation. Oxford Frozen Foods is celebrating their 50th Anniversary Sat July 28, with number of events for it’s invited guests. The Town of Oxford is joining the birthday celebration with an appearance by the Kilted Chef. He will be preparing delicious dishes with town celebrities, using wild blueberries, in Heritage Square from 11-3. And they are free to try as well as free blueberry ice cream. There will be fireworks at 10 at the town ballfield, open to all.

The Springhill Communities in Bloom is hosting a Teddy Bear Picnic on Sunday at 1 at Lions Park in Springhill. Tickets are $5 a child. There will be games, balloon animals, face painting, family photo booth, a visit to the teddy bear doctor, and snack. BBQ will be onsite at an additional cost. The Roy Maltby Fundy Hockey School runs Sept 4-11 at the Amherst Stadium. Sportsmanship, social development and skill development of the participants is the main objective. The cost for players is $150, $75 for goalies. Each players gets 10 hours of ice time, including 2 games, off ice sessions, a jersey and free skate sharpening courtesy of Maltby Sports. The “Uh Oh Canada Dinner Theatre”, at the Amherst Golf Club Wed July 25 at 7 has been cancelled. There will be 2 performances in September, on the 27th and 28th.. It’s written and directed by Charlie Rhindress. Tickets are $40, which includes a roast beef supper. You can buy tickets at the Pro Shop or call 902-667-1922.
