Christ Church Amherst is holding a Community Roots Day Camp for ages 6-12, the week of July 9-13. The camp is free and runs daily from 9-5. For more information or to register go to sharenspei.ca

The 90th Annual Strawberry Festival in Wallace is this Saturday. It’s on from 3-6 at the Wallace Community Hall. There will be homemade baked beans and a variety of salads and strawberry shortcake. The cost is $12 for adults, $6 for children 13 and under and free for preschoolers. Take-outs will be available. Proceeds to St Matthew’s Presbyterian Church.

Showcase Productions Society will be offering Summer Theatre Programs for students in Amherst and Area at Christ Church Parish Hall. Camp 1 is Jul 16-27 and is for ages 7-9. The 4th Annual BHP Challenge is Sat Jul 21 at Sackville’s Beach Hill Park. The main race is a little over 4km, with more than a dozen obstacles. The Mini-Challenge for kids 5-11 is back again too. Race sign-in is at 8:30, but pre-registration and payment is required by July 19. The Sunset Adult Residential Centre is planning an Official Opening of Rufus’ Art Lodge and permanent exhibit Wed July 11th, starting at 3. There will be a ribbon cutting, tours, toast and reception with refreshments. The event will run until 7.  

You can enjoy a 35 minute Horse Drawn Tour of Amherst’s historic district Thursday evenings from 6-9 til October. Meet at Victoria Square. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children, payable in cash to the driver.

Savour The Shore, a celebration of Nova Scotia’s North Shore, is Saturday at Northumberland Links. The gates open at 11:30. There will be entertainment on the Tap-In Deck starting at noon with Chris Brown. At 1:30 three generations of the Murray family will perform. Free Fall will follow the Live Auction at 4. The Sunset Summer Fair is Saturday from 1-4 at the Sunset Community. There will be children’s games and face painting, a crafts and collectables show, 4-H displays, Sam and Ghost the Husky’s agility show and live music on stage. The Pugwash Volunteer Fire Department will have a demonstration at 1.
