Tie-Dye Night
The Town of Amherst is hosting a Tie-Dye Night Wednesday from 6-7:30 at Dickey Park. Bring your own t-shirt. Some white t-shirts will be provided, while supplies last.

The Cumberland County Museum has a 50/50 draw fundraiser the last Thursday of the month. Only 500 tickets and you could win up to $500 monthly. Tickets are $5 per month and only 200 are available.. This Thursday thru Sunday, the Atlantic Canadian Military History Association War Encampment will be going on at the Cumberland County Museum. Get to know some of our war vets. Take a tour of the museum. There will be a BBQ Saturday at noon and a movie that night at 9.

Tickets are on sale now for a trip to the Royal International Tattoo on June 29. The cost is $85, which includes transportation and admission to the Tattoo. Buy your tickets at Amherst Town Hall 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday. Only 40 tickets are being sold.

The Great Race is on and it’s coming to Amherst Saturday. It’s the world’s premiere old car rally, covering more than 2300 miles from Buffalo NY to Halifax, in vintage automobiles dating as far back as 1913. Grab a lawn chair this Saturday morning and watch. The first of 120 vehicles should roll down Victoria St and up Church St about 10. The Race which started 35 years ago. It’s not a speed race but a time/speed/distance rally.

Springhill will be celebrating Canada Day Sat June 30. They will have a bike rodeo from 5-7 at the Richard Calder Arena, and they will be giving away a new bike and other prizes. The Springhill Fencebusters U13 AA Team will be holding a BBQ and the Canada Day cake will be cut at 7:30.

Canada Day – Amherst
Celebrate Canada Day Sunday in Amherst. The flag raising is at 11:45. The downtown celebration is from noon-4 in Victoria Square. There will be live music, games, food, inflatables, a bungee jump and more. Fireworks are at dusk from the Robbs Complex.

Oxford’s Canada Day Celebrations are from 11-1 at Heritage Square. There will be Canada themed face painting and other children’s activities, music from My Favourite Headache and a Free BBQ.

Parrsboro is celebrating Canada Day at Ottawa House. Sunday’s events run from 1:30-4. There will be music from the Parrsboro Citizens band, a cake auction and birthday cake as well.

The 2018 Gathering of the Clans is Monday July 2. The day starts with a Breakfast at the Pugwash Fire Hall. There will be highland dance, pipes and drums, and highland games competitions. Artisan and food vendors will be set up on Water Street. Entertainment on the Eaton Stage will feature Paul Randy Mingo and headliner the Matt Minglewood Band.
