The Town of Amherst is kicking off summer this Friday at Dickey Park. The Town and the Amherst Police Dapartment will be holding a free community bike rodeo between 5 and 7. A Trail Flow Portable Park will also be set up, to simulate the elements found on mountain bike trails, so bring your bike. The 23rd Annual Kidney Foundation Golf Tournament is Sat June 23 at the Amherst Golf Club. Registration fee is $75 for Amherst Golf Club members, $115 for non-members. The Amherst Air Cadets will be holding a bottle drive Saturday from 9-noon in Amherst. You can also drop off your bottles and cans from 8:30-11:30 at the old Zellers location at the Amherst Center. Funds raised will go toward their trip to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies in Ottawa.

There’s a Book Launch and Sale at Dayle’s Grand Market this Saturday from 10-2. Get your copy of Witnesses to a New Nation, 150 Nova Scotia buildings that saw Canada’s Confederation. The book features 7 Amherst and area heritage homes.

The Town of Amherst is holding a Doggy Social at Dickey Park Saturday from 10-noon. Meet other dog lovers and join Dogs to Diva’s, Wag, the L.A. Animal Shelter and Bliss café for a few laps with your pooch. Don’t forget your leash.  

Little Ray's Reptiles will be at the Wentworth Recreation Center this Saturday at 10. This is their first show ever in Wentworth. Bring the family. Prices are $10.00 for adults, $5.00 for children under 12, Family of 4 $20.00. Tickets can be purchased online on the Wentworth Recreation Center Facebook page or at the door.

Trail Flow Porta Park will be in Springhill Saturday from 3-5, at the Dr Carson and Marion Murray Community Center. The park simulates the elements found on real mountain bike trails, and is designed for riders of all skill levels. The event is free. There is a Church Supper at the Malagash Community Hall Sat June 23 from 4-6. You can build your own meal from the casseroles, baked beans and salads plus desserts. The cost for adults is $12, children 12 and under $6 and free for preschoolers. Proceeds to the Malagash United Church.
