This year’s Cumberland Health Care Foundation Light the Way Campaign is going to be different this year. Unlike other years, there will be no extravaganza to kick off the Christmas season at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. This year’s goal is $85,000, to purchase an Erbe Electrosugical Unit. Pedvac Foundation is now accepting applications for its annual Christmas Box Campaign in the Port Elgin area. (Each year, PEDVAC distributes Christmas boxes with all the ingredients for a special Christmas dinner, additional groceries for the Christmas week, toys for each child, a gift for each member of the family, knitted items and small seasonal items such as ornaments and Christmas candy.) The Springhill Lions Club is holding a Lottery Wreath Fundraiser. Tickets are $2 or 3 for $5. The wreath contains a $50 prize and $50 worth of scratch tickets. The draw is Monday Dec 14. Get your tickets from any Lion or message them on their facebook page. Proceeds help the Lions provide their Christmas services and programs.

It’s Christmas at the Farmers Market Saturday from 9-1 at the Parrsboro Legion on Moore Street. There will 21 vendors, with crafted treasures, jewelry, wreaths, fresh home baking, preserves, chocolates and distillery delights. Covid-19 protocols will be in effect, with masks, social distancing and hand sanitizer.

With the cancellation of most local parades due to the pandemic, Cumberland County has a way for families to find some holiday cheer. They have developed the Cumberland Parade of Lights, so residents, businesses, and organizations can highlight their decorating efforts.
