Shelter Calendars

December 23, 2017

The 2018 Look at Us Now-L.A. Animal Shelter calendars are still available til Christmas, but are in limited numbers.  Find them at the Amherst Veterinary Hospital, Park Your Paws and Manasseh. They are also available at Maritime Mosaic, where they also have other Shelter gifts . The calendars are $20 each and feature the furry friends at the Shelter.

Christ Church – Christmas Eve Service

Christ Church will be holding their Christmas Eve service Sunday at 4:30, the Candlelight Service will be at 8 Sunday night. The Christmas Day service is Monday at 10.

Amherst Community Christmas Dinner

The Amherst Community Christmas Dinner is back on Christmas Day at 2 at the Bridge Adult Service Center. The core organizing group will be retiring this year after 10 years, so they are looking to pass the torch to some other group. If you are interested call Betsy Prager at 902-669-0757. There is no cost for Christmas dinner, because the money raised through donations last year will pay for this years event.

Kidney Foundation Fundraising Breakfast

The Springhill and Oxford Chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada, are holding a Family Breakfast and Fundraiser, Boxing Day at Sociables Pub and Eatery in Springhill. Breakfast will be from 8:30-11:30. The cost is $7 for adults, $3 for children 5 and under.

Masonic Customer Appreciation Breakfast

December 30, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 10:30 am

The Amherst Masons are holding a Customer Appreciation Breakfast, at their Temple on Lawrence Street, Saturday morning from 7:30-10:30. They will be serving French toast and bacon, with juice, tea or coffee for $5. This breakfast is a make-up event for a breakfast that was canceled due to a power outage in November.

New Year’s Eve Family First Celebration

December 31, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The New Year’s Eve Family First Celebration is from 6-8 at the Amherst Stadium. There will be skating, ice coloring, wagon rides, live music, a photo booth and rooftop fireworks display. All activities are free and tobacco and alcohol free. Traffic note: New Years Eve between 4:30 and 8:30, Church Street between Wellington and Townshend Ave, and Senator Ave, will be closed.

NYE Dance – Air Force Club

New Year’s Levee -Christ Church

YMCA The Biggest Challenge

January 4, 2018 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Start the New Year in a fun and healthy way, with the Biggest Challenge at the YMCA of Cumberland. Challenge dates are Jan 8- Apr 3. The program includes group fitness classes, nutrition sessions, personal training and more. The cost is $130. There’s an information session Thurs Jan 4 from 6:30-7:30.
