Animal Shelter Christmas Open House

December 10, 2017 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Lillian Allbon Cumberland County Animal Shelter on the Smith Road is holding their Christmas Open House. Sunday from noon-3. See the animals and learn about rescue in our community. There will be cake, hot chocolate and treat bags for kids. While you are there, buy a tag ornament for the shelter’s Donate to Decorate Tree.

Toy and More Bingo

The Amherst Fire Department ladies Auxiliary is hosting a Toy and More Bingo, Sunday Dec 10 at 1. (doors open at 11:30) The grand prize is a Nintendo Switch with Mario Odyssey. The will also have Fingerlings and Hatchimals. There will also be a 50/50.

Atlantic Dance Academy – Ballet Gala

The Atlantic Dance Academy, featuring talented dancers from Cumberland and Westmorland Counties, will present a Ballet Gala, Sunday at 2 at Convocation Hall. The first part of the show features scenes from Paquita Grand Pas, a famous classical ballet. The second part of the show will consist of various classical ballet pieces, contemporary numbers and character dances, performed by dancers ages eight and up. Canada 150 Skating Day

The Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Center is hold a Free Canada 150 Skating Day, Sunday from 6-8. Get your skates sharpened free, then skate to the Christmas videos on the 30 foot tv with a laser light show. They will also be showing the movie ELF in the CIBC Common room. There will be Christmas crafts for children, cookie decorating, chilli and soup, hot chocolate and egg nog.

Provincial Championships Coordinators

The Amherst Curling Club will be hosting this season’s Provincial Championships and we need a few Coordinators for the event from February 15th to 19th, 2018. The coordinator for each activity is not expected to perform all the functions themselves, but work with a team of other volunteers. Holiday Concert

The Tantramar Regional High School Jazz Band and Vocal Ensemble will be holding their Holiday Concert Tuesday, December 12 at 6:30 in the TRHS Theatre.You will hear both Holiday and other music, taste some great treats by our Culinary Tech students, and enjoy the festive atmosphere! Admission is by donation at the door.

You can buy a light, wreath, snowman, or angel and dedicate it in someone's memory or in honor of someone special to you. Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day

The Soar Community Health Board, the YMCA of Cumberland and the Town of Amherst are holding a Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day, Thursday Dec 21 at 4:15 at Victoria Square. You are invited to join them and remember those who have died from homelessness.
