Ramblers Fan Appreciation Night
The Amherst Ramblers Fan Appreciation Night is this Saturday at 7 at the Amherst Stadium. The first 700 fans will receive a free gift at the door, discount coupons from local merchants and a ticket for many door prizes. You could win a tv, a recliner rocker, a tablet and more. There will be a Garage/Yard Sale Saturday from 9-noon at 13 Matthew’s Terrace(the old hospital site) All proceeds go to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. This Society serves those in need in Amherst and some surrounding area.

There will be a Christmas Market Saturday from 9-1 at Pugwash High School. There will be crafts, the Communities in Bloom Tree Fest, the Make It Snappy ginger contest, Kids Gingerbread Man cookie decorating and more. Jingles the Elf will be there too. Admission is a donation to the Food bank.

Amherst has been selected as a community host for a Canada 150 National Skating Party. It will be free 1:30-3 Sunday Dec 10th. That combined with the Canada / Russia World Jr A hockey game on Friday Dec 8 at 730, it will be a "flag waving" weekend in Cumberland.

The Revival Center Sunday School presents A BlastZone Christmas, Sunday Dec 10 at 10:30. There will be special music from the Sunday School, the Fake Quartet and others, a puppet show, skits, the Kids Christmas story and more. There will be chocolates for all in attendance. At 6:30, the Revival Center presents The Sounds of Christmas 2017 Concert with music from various groups and the Youth presentation I Believe. There will be a freewill offering for the Christmas Cheer Project.

The Lillian Allbon Cumberland County Animal Shelter on the Smith Road is holding their Christmas Open House. Sunday from noon-3. See the animals and learn about rescue in our community. The Atlantic Dance Academy, featuring talented dancers from Cumberland and Westmorland Counties, will present a Ballet Gala, Sunday at 2 at Convocation Hall. The first part of the show features scenes from Paquita Grand Pas, a famous classical ballet. The second part of the show will consist of various classical ballet pieces, contemporary numbers and character dances, performed by dancers ages eight and up. The Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Center is hold a Free Canada 150 Skating Day, Sunday from 6-8. Get your skates sharpened free, then skate to the Christmas videos on the 30 foot tv with a laser light show. They will also be showing the movie ELF in the CIBC Common room. There will be Christmas crafts for children, cookie decorating, chilli and soup, hot chocolate and egg nog.
