Toys for Tots
Toys for Tots, organized by the Springhill Lions Club runs til Dec 4. It’s located at the Parkview Professional Center at 6 McFarlane Street behind Foodland. Thgey will have a sandwich board outside the door, when the office is open. Then you would be welcome to fill out an application and meet with a Toys for Tots representative. Tickets are available for the Annual Christmas Light -Bus Tour at Sackville Town Hall. The tour includes Sackville, Dorchester, Memramcook and Moncton, and leaves the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Center Thursday Dec 14 at 6. Seats are limited, and cost $5. There will be a Christmas Market and Luncheon at the Amherst First Baptist Church Saturday Dec 9. The market is from 10-2, with a luncheon from 10-1:30. They will be serving hamburger soup and chilli for $8. Proceeds support Christmas for Kids and competitive students of JC’s Tae Kwon Do.

The Springhill-Oxford Area Chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada is presenting it’s 1st Annual Variety Show, Thursday night from 7-9 at St. Andrews Wesley United Church in Springhill. The event will feature local talent, including Leah Killen, Evange Landry, Marg and Andrew Lloyd, Jerry Metz, Jim Scopie, Ruth Shearer, Jim Scopie, Charlie James, Castlereagh and the Smith Sisters. There will also be a gift basket raffle. Admission is by donation at the door.

The United Way of Cumberland County is presenting Festival of Trees, November 17 and 18 at the Amherst Center. It’s a celebration of the Christmas tree. The highlight will be auction of decorated Christmas trees. Santa will arrive early for Breakfast With Santa and stick around for pictures too. The United Way of Cumberland County Festival of Trees Business Luncheon, is Friday Nov 17 from noon-1:30, at the Community Credit Union Innovation Center. Meet the member agencies and learn more about how donations to the United Way impact our community. The Cumberland County Museum and Archives are sponsoring a Four Fathers Dinner, Friday Nov 17 from 6-9 at the Amherst Curling Club.
