The 2017 Sackville Art Association Members Exhibition begins Sunday, with an opening reception from 3-5 at the Owens Art Gallery in Sackville. This year’s featured artist is Laurell Hamilton.

The Joggins Fire Department will be hosting a Toy and Gift Bingo, Monday Nov 6 at 7 at the Fire Hall. The jackpot is $200 and there will be door prizes. Doors open at 5:30.

The Amherst Police Department is proud to be hosting a “cram a cruiser” event in Amherst. Their crime prevention cruiser will be parked at various locations throughout the town and you can “cram” the cruiser with non-perishable food items and coats. The food items will be donated to the local food bank. They are also looking for gently used coats and/or winter wear that can be donated as well in support of the Coats for Cumberland campaign. Krispy Kreme is having another Doughnut Fundraiser for the Children’s Wish Foundation. Order by November 10 at childrenswish.ca/krispykreme. Donuts are $15 per dozen and they will arrive fresh at the office of McIssac Darragh on November 16 between 7:30 and 9:30. The goal is raise $10,000 across Nova Scotia, with One Wish in One Day.

In Sackville Remembrance Day Ceremonies begin at 9:15. Members will meet at the Sackville Legion Branch 26 on Lorne Street and the parade will line up and march to Convocation Hall for 9:30 where the service will take place at 10 am. The Parade will head to Memorial park arriving at 10:45 with the service beginning at 11.

Remembrance Day Ceremonies in Victoria Square at the Cenotaph Saturday at 11am. Laying of Wreath's follows at First Baptist Church followed by the Vimy Ridge Oak Tree dedication beside Town Hall. A reminder, this year if you are going to attend the Remembrance Day ceremonies, after the March-in, you are asked to gather in Victoria Square. That way we can see our veterans and they can see us.

Christmas for Kids, coordinated by the Amherst Lions Club, begins Monday Nov 13. The phone line at 902-667-1949 will operate Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Dec. 8. Parents can pick up gifts for their children from Dec. 11 to 15.
