Amherst Firefighters Association Annual Emergency Services Memorial Service

October 22, 2017 @ 1:20 pm

The Amherst Firefighters Association will be holding their Annual Emergency Services Memorial Service, Sunday Oct 22. Meet at the Amherst Fire Department before 1:20. At 1:30 there will be a march to the 1st Baptist Church. Following a service, the firefighters will march back to the Fire Hall for a wreath laying and a moment of silence for honorary and deceased service members.

YREACH International Cooking Class

Author Reading – Laurie Glen Norris

FREE In-Service day trips

If you live in the Wentworth area and would like to forget the hassle of finding a sitter for the in-service day Friday, send your kids on a free day of fun activities. GROUP ONE will head to Shubenacadie Wildlife Park for a private tour before dissecting owl pellets! GROUP TWO will spend the day bowling and swimming while also enjoying an autumn nature walk! Lifestyle Makeover Challenge

Lifestyle Makeover Challenge is a free course to help you build confidence and play a more active role in reducing the impact of arthritis on your life. It will be at the Maritime Conference Center in Sackville, Wednesday Oct 25 from 10-noon. Learn, from health professionals, how to live better, manage pain and fatigue, eat healthfully, understand medications, and enjoy physical activity with arthritis. Amherst Center Haunted Scarefest

Wednesday through Sunday, Oct. 25-29 join the Amherst Center for Haunted Scarefest, with a tribute to Esther Cox. Wed. and Thursday,  4 – 9, Friday, 10-2 and 4-9  and Saturday and Sunday 10-1 and 3-6. (10 a.m. shows for 12 and under) Admission is $5 for teens and adults and $3 for those 12 and under. You get 1 dollar off your admission with a donation to the food bank, and your admission allows you to go through twice.

Festival of Trees Call for Decorators

The United Way of Cumberland County is presenting Festival of Trees, November 17 and 18 at the Amherst Center. It’s a celebration of the Christmas tree. The highlight will be auction of decorated Christmas trees. If you like decorating and would like to donate a decorated tree to be auctioned off at the Festival,  call 902-667-2203 or 902-694-2411.
