Coats For Cumberland

October 11, 2017

Coats for Cumberland is back. You can drop off gently used winter outerwear at Sobeys, the Amherst Stadium and NSCC in Amherst. At the Coop in Parrsboro, Oxford Town Hall and NSCC in Springhill. The Amherst Store will be at the Amherst Centre Mall November 17th,  the Parrsboro Store will be at St.George's Anglican Church November 10th and the Springhill Store will be at the NSCC Springhill Site November 23rd. There will also be stores in Pugwash, Wentworth and Oxford.

Seniors Safety Academy

The Cumberland County Seniors Safety Program and the Amherst Town Police are presenting another Free Police and Seniors Safety Academy. Furlong Jones Funeral Services will be hosting the 6 week information sessions Wednesdays beginning October 11.  Among the topics to be covered, are winter driving tips, medication safety tips, computer and internet safety, self-defense, YMCA programs for seniors and protecting your funeral plans. Town of Sackville Tourism and Business Development Strategy meeting

The Town of Sackville is holding community meetings to create a Tourism and Business Development strategy for 2017 – 2019. The final session is Wednesday, October 11 from 7 pm – 9 pm in Council Chambers in Town Hall (local businesses are especially encouraged to attend this session and/or the one on October 5). Relay For Life – Sackville

The 14th annual Sackville Relay for Life is Friday, October 13th from 6-9pm, at the Academic Quad on the Mount A campus. Registration is at 5:30. There is an option to do a 5 or 10 km fundraiser night run at 6:30 around Sackville . Registration for that is $10. There is a survivor reception before the relay. If you know of any cancer survivors, or want to volunteer or get more information contact Ally - admyers@mta.ca .

Amherst 50+ Club’s Fall Fair

The Amherst 50+ Club’s Fall Fair is Saturday Oct 14 from 8-3 at thier hall on Croft Street. You’ll find a craft table, bake table, vegetable table, white elephant table and Full Pantry. They will have a door prize and lunch, with turkey burgers and pie and tea or coffee for $6.

Zonta Fibre Arts Bazaar

The Zonta Fibre Arts Bazaar is Saturday Oct 14 from 10-4 at the Colonel James Layton Ralston Armoury. You will find hooked mats,quilts,yarns, inspired creations and fibre arts supplies as well as holiday gifts and ideas. For lunch stop by the Zonta Café. In partnership with the 154 Amherst Anson Air Cadets, admission is $2, with children under 5 admitted free.
