With Glowing Hearts, a new musical, about the struggle between Joseph Howe and Charles Tupper over Confederation, runs Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 1 at the Oxford Capitol Theatre. Set in the Oxford Temperance Hall, the actors include, Dale Fawthrop, Pat Melanson, Lawry MacLeod, Tracy Black, Donna Jean Perrin and Doug White. Cumberland Adult Network for Upgrading, CANU, offers a free GED study program. If you need to upgrade your reading, writing, social studies, science or math skills, you will get instruction and support. The GED is free to write. The Park Bench Players will be performing “With a Little Help From My Friends”, Tuesday Oct 3 at 7, in the Susan Taylor Theatre at Amherst Regional High. The Park Bench Players are a national award-winning group of individuals who live with mental illness. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.

Cumberland Public Libraries is offering the CART Program, Children and Adults Learning Together. It’s a fun and educational early literacy program for families with preschoolers. CART is open to children 3-5, with parent or caregiver. It’s free, but does require an 8 week commitment, and space is limited.
