CARMA Amherst and Area Fall Fair is going on Saturday from 8-2 at the Amherst Lions Den. Tables will include crafts, books, preserves, Christmas, fall, Halloween, pet gifts, jewelry, baked goods and yard sale items. There will also be a BBQ. If you bring a food donation for the rescue cats, you could win the Special Draw.

The Holy Family Parish Fall Fair and Market is Saturday Sept 30 from 9-1 at the Parish Hall. Among the events is an indoor yard sale. You can rent a table for $15. Call 902-667-2523. The Oxford Hunting and Fishing Expo is Saturday from 9-5 and Sunday from 9-2 at the Oxford Lions Recreation Center. Check out hunting and fishing gear and atv’s. There will also be a BBQ. Admission is $5, those 12 and under free. For more information call Matt Wood at 902-397-2341.

The Amherst Chapter of the Kidney Foundation is holding their 4th Kidney Walk, Saturday Sept 30 at Dickey Park. Registration is at 1. The walk starts at 2. Because of the overwhelming response to the, Anne of Springhill, Dinner Theatre at the Maritime Music Fest, it’s coming back for three more performances. The show tells the story of a group of wacky Anne Murray fans who get together to stage a tribute to their hometown hero. The Amherst Fire Department is hosting A Night of Comedy Sat Sept 30 at 7 with headliner Mike MacDonald and hosted by Marc Sauve. Tickets for this event are only $10. With Glowing Hearts, a new musical, about the struggle between Joseph Howe and Charles Tupper over Confederation, runs Saturday at 7 and Sunday at 1 at the Oxford Capitol Theatre. Set in the Oxford Temperance Hall, the actors include, Dale Fawthrop, Pat Melanson, Lawry MacLeod, Tracy Black, Donna Jean Perrin and Doug White.
