Field Leader-Hiking Course
A Field Leader-Hiking Course is being offered in Parrsboro Saturday and Sunday Sept 23 and 24. Participants will receive Outdoor Council of Canada national certification. The cost is between $100 and $125. Register at hikenovascotia.ca by Sept 18.

Science Literacy Week is Sept 17-24. The week highlights scientists and science communicators from coast to coast. On Thursday Sept 21 at 11, Major Melissa Reyes, with the Ottawa Research Center of Defense Research and Development Canada, will present an illustrated talk at the Joggins Fossil Center. Science is driving the adaptation of Canadian Armed Forces operations and capabilities. She will talk about that during her presentation. The presentation is free. CarFit is coming to Amherst Friday Sept 22. The program helps seniors adjust the comfort and safety of their vehicles. It’s being offered by the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
