The Air Force Association is holding an Open Mic Saturday starting at 7, with many local performers. Admission is a donation at the door.

The Wentworth Wild Blueberry Harvest Festival is Sunday from 9-3 at the Firemen's Recreation Centre in Wentworth. There will be a car show, Quilt show and sale, Blueberry café, local vendors including Triders Craft Beer, and a slip n' slide put on by the Wentworth Volunteer Firemen.

The Malagash Area Heritage Association is holding their 19th Annual Sandcastle Festival on Sunday August 20th at The Blue Sea Beach, 660 Blue Sea Road, Malagash from 11-4.  Prizes for the most original creations in Commercial, Family, Teen and Under 12 categories.  Call 902-257-2407 for more information.

There’s An Evening of Music, Sunday Aug 20 at 7 at the West Amherst Point Baptist Church. This week featuring Lawrey and Mary MacLeod and Silver Rose. The music starts at 7, with a light lunch afterward. Admission is a free will offering.

There’s an Evening of Song with Jocelyn Joyce, Sunday, Aug 20 at 7 at the Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd in Tidnish Crossroads. She’ll be singing her favorite  old country songs. Admission is a free will offering, with proceeds for the upkeep of the church

VON Cumberland is holding 4th Annual Kickin Asphalt Run on Saturday starting at 8:30 from the corner of Havelock and Victoria. Registration at VON Office 43 Prince Arthur St and the Running Room. For more information, contact Mitchell at 902-667-8796 ext. 2001. Runners can also register the morning of the run. Proceeds support VON Cumberland's charitable programs.

The Town of Amherst Blueberry Harvest Festival is Thursday thru Sunday. There will be entertainment in Victoria Square, the Annual Artisans Sidewalk Market, lots of activities in the Kids Zone, a Skateboard Competition, a Blueberry Competition, the Blueberry Beer Garden with C4 and much more For more details go to Amherst.ca or check the Amherst Recreation Department facebook page.  

Thursday, A&W will be celebrating Burgers to Beat MS, to help Canadians living with multiple sclerosis. This year will donate $2 from each Teen Burger sold to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. You can also participate by rounding up your bill at the register, buy a cutout or other in store activities.
