Springhill Old Home Week
Springhill Old Home Week continues until Sunday. This week there’s a Maritime Musik Fest celebrating the legacy of Anne Murray, with dinner theatres. Wednesday through Saturday, and a concert Saturday. Anne Murray will hold a meet and greet at the Anne Murray Center Saturday. The Musik Fest Concert is Saturday. Sunday free Got Bobble on the soccer fields, a concert in Lions Park and Fireworks at dusk. For more details check the Springhill Leisure Services facebook page.

The Maritime Music Fest, honoring Anne Murray’s legacy and showcasing East Coast musicians, is July 26-29 at the Dr Carson and Marion Murray Community Center in Springhill. There’s a dinner theatre, “Anne of Springhill”, a Songwriters Circle, and closing concert, and there will be a Meet and Greet with Anne at the Anne Murray Center. The Springhill Library is celebrating it’s 50th Birthday, Thursday Jul 27 from 11-12. If you are in grades P-6, help them celebrate with crafts, games and cake. Call 902-597-2211 for more information. Children under 9 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Cumberland Y’s Strong Kids Swim is Saturday July 29 starting at 3:30. The swim is from Baie Verte to Tidnish. Registration is at the Cumberland Y, $40 or $50 in pledges. Proceeds for the Y’s Strong Kids Campaign, to help subsidize swimming lessons, facility access and quality daycare. Amherst Masons are serving breakfast Saturday morning from 7:30-10:30 at the Masonic Temple on Lawrence Street. Eggs, bacon or sausages and hash browns are on their menu. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children.

The 3rd Annual Beech Hill Park Challenge is Sat July 29 from 8:30 - noon in Sackville. Get ready to run, climb, and dodge and be prepared to get dirty. The cost to enter the main race is $25, $10 for students. There is a mini race for children of the main race, $5 for other children. Register and make your payment before July 26 at Sackville Town Hall, or go to Sackville.com

On Saturday, the Amherst Lions in cooperation with the Town of Amherst will officially open their community park and celebrate the ongoing development, with music, activities, food and an opportunity to learn and play tennis with representatives from Tennis Nova Scotia. Tennis play starts Saturday morning at 10:30. The community celebration and music will be ongoing from 12:30-3pm and the official park dedication is at 1:00pm.
