Girls World Registration

Girls World is a day camp that the Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County puts on every summer. The program promotes good self-esteem, and healthy lifestyles for girls between the ages of 8 ½ - 12. This year the locations are: in Amherst from July 4-7 OR July 25-28 in Advocate from July 13-14 in Springhill from July 18-21 in River Hebert August 2-3, in Parrsboro from August 8-11 and in Oxford from August 15-18. Operation Creation FREE day camp

Operation Creation is a FREE day camp being offered June 26-30 from 8:30-5 at the Middle Sackville Baptist Church. It’s for ages 5-11 to learn about the world around us. During the afternoons they will be partnered with different community groups, and about their work with the earth and different animals. Amherst – Canada Day Celebrations

The Town of Amherst’s Canada 150 Celebration is Saturday from 11-3 in Victoria Square. There will be live music, games, wagon rides, bouncy inflatables and live music. The official kick off is at noon, with the Four Fathers of Confederation Salute and Flag Raising ceremony. To wrap up the day there will be fireworks at dusk near the Robbs Complex.

International Cooking Class

“Witnesses to a New Nation: 150 Buildings Which Saw Confederation”

Celebrate 150 years of Confederation with 150 large captioned photos of Nova Scotia’s historic buildings, including some from Amherst. Dayles Grand Market will be hosting the exhibit, , “Witnesses to a New Nation: 150 Buildings Which Saw Confederation” from June 27-Jul 11 from 10-4. Parrsboro – Canada Day Celebrations

Canada Day 2017 activities in Parrsboro Main Street Parade at 10:00 am followed by Firemens Field Day at Fire Hall 252 Willow Street, with games, food, and entertainment. At Ottawa House there’s a concert with the Parrsboro Citizens Band at 1:30, followed by a flag raising ceremony at 2. There will be a food auction and birthday cake.
