Celebrate 150 years of Confederation with 150 large captioned photos of Nova Scotia’s historic buildings, including some from Amherst. Dayles Grand Market will be hosting the exhibit, , “Witnesses to a New Nation: 150 Buildings Which Saw Confederation” from June 27-Jul 11 from 10-4. The Springhill Library will be holding a Summer Reading Club Kick-off Party, Thus June 29 between 2 and 3. Celebrate Canada’s birthday, with crafts and games, and sign up for the summer reading program. It’s for grades P-6. For more information, call 902-597-2211

Canada Day celebrations start early in Springhill. Friday June 30 be at Lions Park for a bike rodeo at 6. The flag raising and cake cutting is at 7. The celebrations end with fireworks at dusk.

Schedule of Events: Canada 150 Canada Day Celebrations 2017 in Oxford. Friday June 30 from 7-9, there’s a Concert at Big Lake Camp hosted by the Church of the Nazarene, with a bonfire to follow. Canada Day 2017 activities in Parrsboro Main Street Parade at 10:00 am followed by Firemens Field Day at Fire Hall 252 Willow Street, with games, food, and entertainment. At Ottawa House there’s a concert with the Parrsboro Citizens Band at 1:30, followed by a flag raising ceremony at 2. There will be a food auction and birthday cake. The Old Fashioned Saturday Night starts at 5:30 with the closing of Main Street, with music starting  at6. There will be fireworks…

The Linden Community Hall will be hosting a Strawberry Festival, Sat July 1 from 11-2. There will be a BBQ, strawberry shortcakes and sundaes and a book sale. For more information, call Anita at 902-661-4340.

Celebrate Canada’s Birthday, with a Canada Day Scramble at the Amherst Golf Club July 1st. It’s a 4 person scramble, with a noon hour shotgun start. The cost is $20 and incudes a BBQ afterwards. Celebrate Canada Day at the Boultenhouse Heritage Centre in Sackville, with their 4th Annual Strawberry Social Canada Day from 2-5. They will be serving homemade biscuits, strawberries, and whipped cream. There will be live music from The Four Corners, guided tours of the Boultenhouse Heritage Centre and Anderson Octagonal House,and a variety of games and activities for all ages.
