Take Out Supper
There will be a Take Out Supper, at the Linden Community Hall. Your choice of lobster rolls for $18 or pulled pork sandwiches for $15, with meals served with salads, dessert and drinks. Amherst Masons are holding a Canada 150 Breakfast, Sat June 24 from 7:30-10:30 at their hall on Lawrence Street. They will be serving pancakes, strawberries and whipped topping and sausages. The cost is $1.50 and take-outs will be available.

The 22nd Annual Kidney Foundation Golf Tournament is Sat June 24 at the Amherst Golf Club, with a shotgun start at 1. Registration is $75 for Amherst Golf Club members, $115 for non-members. Malagash United Church invites you to its Annual Church Supper on Sat. June 24 from 4-6 at the Malagash Community Hall, 1926 North Shore Road. There’s a Friends Helping Friends Fundraiser for Elena Rimski and family, completing their long journey to citizenship. It will be at Teasers Friday night from 8-1. The Archway Insurance Cross Border Challenge is Sat June 24. This year a Summer Kickoff Beer Garden event has been added. It will be at the Amherst Stadium from 8:30-1:30 and feature Big Fish. Tickets are $15, $10 for Challenge runners. Get them at West Amherst Esso, Vogue Optical and the Cumberland Y. Proceeds from the Cross Border Challenge support the Cumberland Y and community projects.

Girls World is a day camp that the Sexual Health Centre for Cumberland County puts on every summer. The program promotes good self-esteem, and healthy lifestyles for girls between the ages of 8 ½ - 12. Operation Creation is a FREE day camp being offered June 26-30 from 8:30-5 at the Middle Sackville Baptist Church. It’s for ages 5-11 to learn about the world around us. During the afternoons they will be partnered with different community groups, and about their work with the earth and different animals. The Town of Amherst’s Canada 150 Celebration is Saturday from 11-3 in Victoria Square. There will be live music, games, wagon rides, bouncy inflatables and live music. The official kick off is at noon, with the Four Fathers of Confederation Salute and Flag Raising ceremony. To wrap up the day there will be fireworks at dusk near the Robbs Complex.
