Cumberland County’s 1st Pet Expo is Sat May 6 at 10-3 at Park Your Paws. Bring your pet and have some fun. Amoung the events are a cat show, agility demonstration, fly ball races, a pure bred dog parade, a pet dog show and more. Industry professionals and vendors will be there. You could win a door prize or the 50/50 draw. Proceeds support the L.A. Animal Shelter.

The 35th Annual Highland Fling is Sat May 13 from 9-2 at the Amherst Curling Club. One of the special events in support of the Fling is Breakfast at Brittany’s on Sat May 6. From 7-2, $2 from any meal over $8 will go to the Highland Fling.

There’s a Breakfast and Bake Sale for the Sackville Memorial Hospital Sat May 6 from 7:30-11 in the hospital cafeteria.Tickets $10 each; $5 for children under 12, and available at the Hospital Administration Office or at the door. Breakfast includes pancakes, eggs, baked beans, toast, bacon, and more and gluten free options available.

The Cobequid Off Highway Vehicle Club is holding a Benefit ATV Poker Rally for the GOVRC Workshop in Springhill this Saturday, rain or shine. Registration is from 9-11 at Rod Brown’s Mill in Southampton. There will be a BBQ at the main site and midway checkpoint, and there will be prizes and draws. There will be prizes for the top 3 hands. The cost is $15 per ATV, with a second hand for $10.

The MADD Road Rally is Sat May 6 10-4 starting from the Amherst lions Center. It’s a navigational rally, where you can enjoy the local area, participate in fun activities and try to get the best rally score using time, speed and distance. West Highland Elementary is holding a Spring Market, Saturday from 10-2. With Mothers Day coming up you'll find great ideas for her with more than 30 vendors,  crafters, artisans, home bakers and home businesses . The student government will also have a booth with goodies and there will be a BBQ. Admission is by donation.

There is a Spring Craft/Bake/Yard sale, Sat May 6 from 10-1 at the Brookdale Hall. There will also be a lunch of sandwiches and sweets for $6.

The Cumberland Food Action Network and the Ecology Action Center Our Food Project will be holding their 3rd Annual Musicans For Local Food, Sat May 6 from noon-3 at Christ Church Hall. Among the performers will be Drew Moore, Eric Fresia, Barry Patriquin, Roy Pettigrew, Construction & Deconstruction and Susan Robichaud. There will also be an open mic.
