Easter Extravaganza
Maggie’s Place is holding an Easter Extravaganza Sat Apr 8 from 10-noon at Spring St Academy. There will be lots of games, art, activities and a healthy snack. And a special guest may hop by as well. An adult must accompany all children. And like all Maggie’s Place programs, the admission is free.

Maggie's Place will be hosting another free Income Tax Preparation Clinic. Monday, April 10th, with appointments available from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Childcare Available. The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program is to assist eligible individuals (modest income and a simple tax situation), who are not able to prepare their income tax benefit returns by themselves. The Zonta Club of Amherst is now accepting applications for the Kim Wry Memorial Bursary. It’s $1000 and meant to be used by a woman who qualifies as a mature student and is enrolled in a post-secondary program. Applications are available at the Amherst Post Office or at NSCC in Amherst or Springhill. May 31 is the deadline.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Cumberland’s Interagency Committee on Family and Sexual Violence has planned several events to raise awareness around preventing sexual violence. On Wed Apr 12 from 9:30AM -10:30 at the Springhill Community Centre, there will be a guest speaker event featuring Toni Roberts, a Mount Allison professor who will speak about masculinity, gender in social media, and working as a community to prevent violence. The event is free.
