Tantramar Seniors College
Registration is coming up for Tantramar Seniors College spring courses. On Monday Apr 10, you can register at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Center in Sackville from 3:30-4:30. In Amherst it’s Tuesday Apr 11 at NSCC Amherst from 4-5:15. Codiac registration is Wed Apr 12 at the Crossman Center/Kay Arena from 1-2:30. Maggie's Place will be hosting another free Income Tax Preparation Clinic. Monday, April 10th, with appointments available from 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Childcare Available. The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program is to assist eligible individuals (modest income and a simple tax situation), who are not able to prepare their income tax benefit returns by themselves. Canadian Blood Services are holding Blood Donor Clinics Monday Apr 10 from 1-3 and 5-8 and Tue Apr 11 from 1-3 and 5-7, at the Amherst Lions Center. Book an appointment at blood.ca, call 1-888-2donate or drop in. 140 new donors are need for the Amherst clinics.

The Zonta Club of Amherst is now accepting applications for the Kim Wry Memorial Bursary. It’s $1000 and meant to be used by a woman who qualifies as a mature student and is enrolled in a post-secondary program. Applications are available at the Amherst Post Office or at NSCC in Amherst or Springhill. May 31 is the deadline.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Cumberland’s Interagency Committee on Family and Sexual Violence has planned several events to raise awareness around preventing sexual violence. On Wed Apr 12 from 9:30AM -10:30 at the Springhill Community Centre, there will be a guest speaker event featuring Toni Roberts, a Mount Allison professor who will speak about masculinity, gender in social media, and working as a community to prevent violence. The event is free.

The Lillian Allbon Animal Shelter, will hold a short meeting to tie up some loose ends not covered at the recent Annual General Meeting. The meeting is Thurs at 6 in the boardroom of the Amherst Police Department.

Holy Family Parish is hosting a Good Friday "Way of the Cross" walk through Amherst starting at 11 . This walk is to share the story of Jesus' final steps at Calvary with its pain and suffering, and find similarities in life today and right here in our town of pain and suffering that needs to be seen and helped.
