Show Me The Money

Learn to Lead Cumberland is hosting Show Me the Money, Thursday 10-4:30 at the Oxford Legion. This workshop is designed for non-profit organizations.  Participants in this workshop will learn how to do more with what they have for resources, and how to find new resources to help them accomplish their goal. ‘A’ Fresh Start Community Initiative

The Town of Amherst wants to fund bright, innovative community events or initiatives through its ‘A’ Fresh Start Community Initiative. Up to $17,500, will be shared by the Top 5 events or initiatives through a competitive process. Find an application on the town’s website or be pick one up at the town hall. Glow Bingo

There’s another Glow Bingo at the Amherst Fire Hall Friday starting at 6. For this bingo the Jackpot prize will be 2 tickets to the big country music festival on PEI this summer featuring Miranda Lambert along with Dan and Shay. The tickets will also include a Bridge Pass to get home. Tickets are $30 and available in advance at the Needs store at the Shell on South Albion.

Cues For Kids

The 6th Annual Cues For Kids Fundraiser has been re-scheduled for Friday March 6 from 8-midnight. Tickets are $20 each and include a beverage, pizza, pool and a chance to win a door prize. There will be live local music from R.A. Lautenschlager, Mike Hannon, Michelle LeBlanc and Slim Pickens. Tickets are available at Dooly’s or at the front desk at the YMCA of Cumberland. Proceeds support the Y’s Strong Kids Campaign

Seedy Saturday

The annual gardening and seed sharing event, Seedy Saturday is back Saturday March 7, 1-4 at the Cumberland County Museum, 150 Church Street. Swap seeds with others and learn how to save your own seeds. There will be seeds for sale, kids activities and refreshments.  The event is sponsored by Cumberland Food Action Center and the Ecology Action Center. Admission is $2.

IWD Oxford

Oxford’s International Women’s Day Celebration, is Saturday from 2-4 at the Capitol Theatre. There will be music, dance, poetry, door prizes, and tickets on a basket of goodies. Firefighter Rayliene Thompson will be the guest speaker. Admission is free, but donations are welcome for the Girls World summer program in Oxford.

Wing Night

The Chignecto/Glooscap Snowmobile Association is holding a Wing Night, at the warming shelter at the Chignecto Game Sanctuary. It’s Saturday from 5-9. Wings are $10 per order. The shelter is accessible by snowmobile or vehicle, and there’s lots of parking and everyone is welcome.

There’s a Benefit for Elsie Pettigrew Saturday at Teasers. It starts at 6. Among the entertainers will be The Kraken, Michelle LeBlanc, Basil Hicks and Steve LeBlanc, Drew Polegato, Ron Downey and Friends, No Mad Sky and The Rock Bottom. Elsie is recovering from a car accident in January.

Autumn House Art Auction 2020 is hosting a Reading by author Dr, Leslie Kern, in celebration of International Women’s Day. It’s Sunday at the Art Of Eating in Amherst from 2-4. The event is free to attend. Copies of her book Feminist City: A Field Guide will be available for purchase and signing.
