The Springhill Library is showing the teen movie Mia and the White Lion, Friday at 6. The movie is for grades 6-12. Bring a friend and a snack.

The Knights of Columbus are serving breakfast Saturday Jan 11 from 8-11 at their hall on Robie Street. The cost is $7 per plate.

The Sackville Refugee Response Coalition is hosting a Welcome to Sackville Potluck, at the Sackville Pastoral Charge United Church of Canada, Saturday Jan 11 from 4-6:30. Bring your favorite dish and welcome new comers to Sackville.

There’s a Benefit Dance and Celebration of  the Life of Ducky Quinn, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Saturday Jan 11 starting at 7. Admission is a donation at the door. There will be a silent auction. Any items would be appreciated. You can drop it off at 53 Donald Avenue or the organizers can pick it up. Proceeds to help  Bonnie Quinn.

The Cumberland Business Connector, MLA Elizabeth-Smith McCrossin, MLA Tory Rushton and Athol Forestry are hosting a 2nd session on The Future of Forestry in Cumberland County. It’s Sunday from 3-6 at the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Center. Frank Gallant of Peak Experience will be on hand to facilitate a follow-up discussion around Northern Pulp’s closure and strategies to support Cumberland County’s forest industry.

The Town of Amherst lends out snowshoes and Nordic walking poles free of charge for daily and weekend sign out. You can borrow outdoor sports equipment as part of our Physical Activity Strategy and help build Amherst as one of the most active, healthy communities in Nova Scotia. Snowshoes are available for lending at the Amherst Stadium, Cumberland YMCA and Four Father’s Memorial Library.

A possible 2020 School Reunion is in the planning stages. It would be for anyone who went to Springhill High, grades 7-12, before 2010. More volunteers are needed. There is a meeting Tuesday Jan 14 at 7 at Springhill High School. Use the main entrance, then turn right.
