Amherst’s Terry Fox Run is Sunday Sept 15 at Dickey Park. 5 and 10k options are available. You can walk, run or bike, and you can use the trails at Dickey park or the route through town, Registration is at 9, with the run at 10. The Terry Fox Run is pet friendly.

The SMILE Cookie Campaign runs Monday Sept 16 to Sunday Sept 22 at Amherst Tim Hortons locations. Cookies are $1, and the money raised goes to the United Way of Cumberland County. In the last 15 years almost $62,000 has been raised for the United Way to help support local charitable organizations, like the Smile/Shine Program, Maggie’s Place, the Sexual Health Center, and Cumberland County Transportation Services. There will be an Information Session on Internet Safety, Tuesday Sept 17 from 6-7:30 at Maggie’s Place. It’s a chance to hear from the experience of police and government. The session will provide an overview of teen behaviors in a digital age, including the benefits and risks of being on-line.
