The First Baptist Church is holding a BBQ today from 11:30-1:30. They will have hot dogs, sausages, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and veggie burgers. Charlotte Babineau will be entertaining live in Victoria Square from 11:30-1.  

The Cape Tormentine Beach Festival is on this weekend. Headlining the weekend’s entertainment are Dion Pride, son of singer Charley Pride, Nashville country music artist Phil Valdez and New Brunswick’s Brian Mallery, Shirley Albert, Kenny James, Cory Gallant, Claude and Reg Gallant and the Sackville based Slim Pickins. Flesh Impressions and Angelic Styles are presenting the 1st Annual Burn Camp Poker Run, Saturday Aug 3. All bikes are welcome. There’s a meet and greet from 9-11. You will leave from the Amherst Fire Station, and visit 4 other locations. The ride ends at 25 Newton Avenue. Poker hands are $10. There’s Music at the Mall Saturday at the Amherst Center. Dan McLean will be playing from 11-1 at the Artisans Market and Café. Join R.A. and Friend from 1-3. As always there will be a cash draw and door prizes. And there is great food with Caribbean, Korean and traditional cuisine at the Café.

Sunday, the St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery Committee will be holding their Annual Cemetery Mass in the Church at 2:30pm.   The Blessing of the Cemetery will be at 2pm.  Reception in the parish hall following the Mass.

Maggie’s Place is going to Heather Beach next Tuesday, and you and your family are welcome to join them. They will be building sandcastles, swimming, and paying games. There will be a picnic style snack. They plan to be at the beach from 10-12:30. Transportation is limited, so call 902-667-7250.

The Evil Genius Club meets Wednesday Aug 7 from 2-3:30 at the Springhill Library. Experiment with technology, science, engineering and mathematics, in hands on activities. You have to register. Call 902-597-2211 to sign up.
