The Brookdale, Fenwick and Nappan United churches, present the Country Legends Tribute Tour, Thursday at 7 at the Nappan United Church. Newfoundland recording artists Gordon Cormier and Dave Pike will feature the music of Charlie Pride, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Merle Haggard and Conway Twitty. 100 years ago on July 5 1919, the Handley Page Atlantic crashed landed in Parrsboro and remained there for repairs until October. In 1987, the Ships Company Theatre produced a play called The Summer of the Handley Page about the event. A film of the production will be shown Friday and Saturday at 2 at the Hall. The Tidnish Crossroads Community Association are holding the 39th Annual Tidnish Festival, July 6 and 7 at the Rodney Estabrooks Memorial Sports Field. Events include the Softball Tournament, amusements for the kids both Saturday and Sunday from 10-4 including Inflatables, face painting, Scott Dixon's petting zoo, and the playground on site .(all free) Kalei’s Balloon creations will be there Saturday and Sunday from 12-2. The Tidnish Bridge Art Gallery's 10th Anniversary Open House is on Saturday, July 6th from 10 to 5 with celebratory remarks by special guests at 1 o'clock. There will be music, refreshments, a gift basket draw - and you can check out our schedule of classes & workshops, exhibitions & events. And remember the Tidnish Festival is on the same weekend.

The Tidnish Crossroads Community Association and the Tidnish Fire Department are hosting a Poker Run Saturday. It’s the Annual Power Boat Poker Rally. Registration is from 11-12 at the Fire Department. The fee is $20 per boat and captain, $10 for each extra player. And stick around for all the great events of the 39th Annual Tidnish Festival at the Rodney Estabrooks Memorial Sports Field.

There’s a Sunday Evening of Music at the Brookdale United Church this Sunday at 6:30. This week music will be by Bill Drysdale and Linda Allen Moore. Admission is by donation, and light refreshments will be available.  

There’s a CWL Merchandise Bingo Monday at the Catholic Church hall in Springhill. Doors open at 6, bingo starts at 7. There will be regular games and specials, and the jackpot prize, an 8 piece patio set. All bingo books are $5. There will also be a canteen with turkey burgers and apple crisp.

Trinity St Stephens United Church holds Youth Drop-Ins Tuesday and Thursdays til August 15 from 1-4. It’s a safe place to hang out. Eat snacks and play pool, and games, like ping pong, foosball, and bowling, the games room in the church basement.
