The YMCA of Cumberland is holding a Triathalon Clinic Saturday from 8:30-2 at the Y. It’s a fun, skill enhancing clinic with introduction level technique feedback. The clinic includes a group run, swimming: stroke analysis, indoor cycling, stretch/yoga and a nutrition session. Lunch will be provided. The 37th Annual Highland Fling Family Fun Fair is Saturday May 11 9-1 at the Amherst Curling Club. This year’s goal is to raise $35,000 to buy a mannequin simulator, to support nursing and other medical professionals in developing and maintaining skills. Admission is 35 cents or buy a Fling Button for $5 and have a chance to win one of the many door prizes. Fling buttons are also available by calling 902-614-1963. The Amherst 50+ Club will be holding a Live Auction and Bake Sale, Saturday May 11 at their hall on Croft Street. Viewing starts at 9, with the auction at 9:30. If you get hungry, the kitchen will be open with hamburgers, hotdogs and more.  

There’s an Auction at the River Phillip Hall Saturday. Viewing starts at 10, with the auction at 11. There will be hot dogs and sandwiches and a door prize. The event is sponsored by the Masons-Widows’s Son Lodge

There’s Music at the Mall Saturday, at the Amherst Center. Join R.A. and Drew Moore at the entrance to the Artisans Gallery from 11-1. The Christopher Brown Trio will be playing at the Market Café from 1-3. And remember you can always get a great breakfast at the Market Café.

The Springhill/Oxford Chapter of the Kidney Foundation is holding a Rock-a-Thon Saturday May 11 from 2-4 at the Senior Citizens Recreation Center on McDougal Street in Springhill. The 25th Annual Bacon Elliot Scholarship Dinner is Saturday at the Knights of Columbus Hall from 5-9, with take-outs available. A Lobster/ Steak Dinner for $35,00. Tickets available at Ken's Rite Stop and Elizabeth Smith McCrossin's office Thanks to your support, over $68,000 in scholarships and prizes have been awarded to students of Cumberland.

They are holding a Musical Evening at the Sunrise Renwick United Church in Amherst Head, Saturday May 11 at 7. It will feature Neon Moon (Ruth Shearer and Friends). They also serve at light lunch. Admission is a donation, with the proceeds to the UCW.
