Our Pack Animal Rescue will be hosting a Doggy Spa Day at Pet Valu in Amherst at this Saturday, from noon to 4. Minimum donation of $20 will get your pet washed, dryed and nails trimed.  You'll be leaving with a happy tail and helping to support local animal rescues.

The Cumberland Singers are holding a Talent Contest –The Cumberland Voice. If you like to sing, you could win the $300 first prize, or the $200 second prize or the $100 third prize. Auditions are Saturday May 4 at 8. The semi-finals May 11th and the finals May 25, at the Wentworth Recreation Center. The L.A. Animal Shelter will be holding their Spring Tea, Sunday May 5, with two sittings, 11:30 and 1:30, at the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Center. There will be lunch, live entertainment and a silent auction. The cost is $15, Tickets are available at Buds to Blossoms, the Copper Tree Boutique and the Shell on South Albion Street, or call 902-667-7383.

There’s a CWL Merchandise Bingo, Sunday at the Catholic Church Hall on Chapel Street in Springhill. Doors open at 5, with bingo at 7. There will be regular games, jackpot and specials. All books are $5. The canteen will be open too with fresh turkey burgers

The Cumberland County Singers present Disney’s 101 Dalmatian Kids, featuring students from Cumberland North Academy. Performances tonight and tomorrow night 7. Admission is a by donation.

Every year, McDonald’s Canada franchisees and crews across the country celebrate McHappy Day, an annual day of community giving in support of Ronald McDonald Houses and other local children’s charities. On Wednesday May 8, for every Big Mac®, Happy Meal® or hot McCafé® beverage purchased, $1 will be donated to RMHC® and children’s charities across Canada. Join us on Wednesday May 8, to help families when they need it the most.

There’s a Luncheon at the Bridge Adult Service Center on Station Street, Wednesday May 8 from 11:30-1. They will be serving soup and chili with dessert and beverage for $8, eat in or take out.

A Mental Health Awareness Walk, Let’s Walk About It is Wednesday May 8, starting at 11:30 from the YMCA of Cumberland parking lot. It’s a 2 km walk for fun. After the walk there is a lunch. The cost is a donation to the Cumberland Y Community Lunch Program. For more information, call the Y 667-9112.
