CART returns
CART, Children and Adults Reading Together, is back for it’s 12th year at Cumberland Public Libraries. The program teaches reading readiness skills to children, to prepare them for the first year of school. CART is open to children 3-5 with their parent or caregiver. It’s FREE, but requires an 8 week commitment. Space is limited you have to call and register, 902-667-2135. CART is only going to be offered in Amherst, Thursday evenings from 6-7:30, beginning Jan 10th.

The 4th Annual Grey Cup of Curing CashSpiel will begin this Friday at the Amherst Curling Club. The 1st draw starts at 4:45 PM. There are 24 teams from around the Maritimes participating in this year’s event. The winner of the event will take home more than $800 in cash prizes. You are welcome to watch the games all weekend. The Town of Sackville and the Sports Wall of Fame Board of Directors, are hosting the Sackville Sports Recognition Night. The event honors those who, through their athletic endeavours, have brought recognition to their hometown in 2018 at provincial levels or higher. Ray Coulson will be presented with the Senate 150 Medal, for his work and dedication to the Nova Scotia Highlanders Regimental Museum and the Colonel James Layton Ralston Armory. The medal will be presented Saturday at 11, with doors opening at 10:30. You are welcome to join the celebration.

The Town of Amherst is now accepting applications for the 2019-20 Community Support Grants. Application forms are available at amherst.ca/submit a request form or at Amherst Town Hall. Completed forms should be turned in at Amherst Town Hall by Feb 15.
