Update on Lorne Street Storm Water Mitigation Project.
The Town of Sackville will be holding an update on Phase II of their Lorne Street Storm Water Mitigation Project. Cumberland Public Libraries a new literacy program, Families Exploring Literacy. It’s aim is to give children an introduction to books. If you’ve wanted to learn to skate, the Amherst Recreation Department is offering Adult Learn to Skate, Tuesday’s beginning Jan 8 at the Amherst Stadium. It runs from 12:15- 12:45 and it’s free. The Gritty to Pretty Program encourages commercial building owners in Amherst to invest in beautification and streetscaping by providing matching grants to cover a portion of renovation costs. The program is delivered as a partnership between the Town of Amherst and the Amherst & Area Chamber of Commerce. Funding is allocated on a case-by-case basis. CART, Children and Adults Reading Together, is back for it’s 12th year at Cumberland Public Libraries. The program teaches reading readiness skills to children, to prepare them for the first year of school. CART is open to children 3-5 with their parent or caregiver. The 4th Annual Grey Cup of Curing CashSpiel will begin this Friday at the Amherst Curling Club. The 1st draw starts at 4:45 PM. There are 24 teams from around the Maritimes participating in this year’s event. The winner of the event will take home more than $800 in cash prizes. You are welcome to watch the games all weekend.
