Amherst Christmas Light-up

The Amherst Christmas Light Up is Friday night at Victoria Square. Starting at 6 there will be entertainment and hot chocolate. At 7 it’s the light-up. Following that join the ARHS Band, with Songs of Christmas Concert at the 1st Baptist Church.

An Evening of Art and War

The Amherst Area Heritage Trust is presenting An Evening of Art and War, Arthur Lismer Comes To Town, Fri Nov 16 at 8 at the Colonel James Layton Ralston Armoury. There will be a showcase of World War 1 lithographs by renowned artist Arthur Lismer, speakers, musical entertainment, a silent auction, and delicious refreshments. Maritime Mosiac will be hosting  a Nibus Publishing Holiday Book Baazaar, Sat Nov 17 from 10-2 at Dayles Grand Market. There will be over 40 of Atlantic Canada’s celebrated authors. Do your Christmas shopping and have the authors sign your copy, while you enjoy Christmas treats and prizes.

Salvation Army Auction.

The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Amherst will be hosting a live Auction Sat Nov 17 at 1. Viewing is from noon-1. George Baker will be the auctioneer. MLA Elizabeth Smith McCrossin and Deputy Mayor Sheila Christie will also be on-hand to kick off the Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Concert Fundraiser

There will be a Concert Fundraiser Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church Hall, Parrsboro. It will feature an afternoon of country music with Buckie Hazel, Connie Dawson, Dianne O’Brien, Claude Lamb, Blake Dawson, Helen Chapman, Donna C. Benjamin, Helen Chapman, David Brown, Bucko Dawson and Ron O’Brien. Proceeds for church and hall maintenance.

The Amherst Christmas Parade is Saturday. It starts at 6 at the corner of Victoria and Eddy and ends at the Amherst Center, where there will be music, a visit from Santa and the Parade presentations.

Christmas Tea and Sale

The St. Thomas Aquinas Ladies Council will holding their annual Christmas Tea and Sale on Sunday, November 18, from 11 to 12:30.  Lunch is $5.00 and there be three door prizes to be drawn.  There will be bake, craft, fudge, 50/50 tickets, a used Christmas Items tables and books.
