The Salvation Army Thrift Store in Amherst will be hosting a live Auction Sat Nov 17 at 1. Viewing is from noon-1. George Baker will be the auctioneer. MLA Elizabeth Smith McCrossin and Deputy Mayor Sheila Christie will also be on-hand to kick off the Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.

There will be a Concert Fundraiser Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. at St. George’s Anglican Church Hall, Parrsboro. It will feature an afternoon of country music with Buckie Hazel, Connie Dawson, Dianne O’Brien, Claude Lamb, Blake Dawson, Helen Chapman, Donna C. Benjamin, Helen Chapman, David Brown, Bucko Dawson and Ron O’Brien. Proceeds for church and hall maintenance.

The Amherst Christmas Parade is Saturday. It starts at 6 at the corner of Victoria and Eddy and ends at the Amherst Center, where there will be music, a visit from Santa and the Parade presentations.

This year’s NS Tree For Boston is from Cumberland County. It will be stopping at the Superstore Sunday from 10-11:30.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Ladies Council will holding their annual Christmas Tea and Sale on Sunday, November 18, from 11 to 12:30.  Lunch is $5.00 and there be three door prizes to be drawn.  There will be bake, craft, fudge, 50/50 tickets, a used Christmas Items tables and books.

Cumberland County Transportation Services invites you to the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Center Wednesday November 28th at 2  to showcase their new accessible van. CCTS wishes to thank all our partners for their continued financial support and assistance in the purchase of this vehicle and in the operation of our transportation service for the residents of Cumberland County. The YMCA of Cumberland’s Let’s Get Active Program, is meant to get children active, socializing and learning about exercise. And it’s free for all everyone. For P-grade 5 the session starts Nov 23 and runs from 3:30-4:30. For grades 6-12 the session starts Nov 30 from 3:30-4:30. By attending, your name will be entered into a prize draw. Mount A Field Hockey, invites you to join them for their Wine Tasting Fundraiser, Friday night from 7-9 at Tweedie Hall. This event includes 4 flights of red wine, 4 flights of white wine, as well as light snacks. Tickets cost $35, and are available in the Mount Allison Student Union Building office or by contacting fieldhockey@mta.ca. Doors open at 6:30. Semi-formal attire is recommended. This event is 19+.
