Local Remembrance Day Ceremonies
Remembrance Day ceremonies in Amherst start Sunday at 11:45 at the cenotaph in Victoria Square. Then there is a parade to Trinity St Stephens Church for the Wreath Laying Ceremony. In Sackville the parade will form up at 9:15 in front of the Sackville Legion, then march off to Convocation Hall for the Remembrance Day Service. The Town of Amherst is holding a Cookie Crawl, Friday Dec 14 from 4-8. Buy your ticket in advance and then take it to Amherst Town Hall on Dec 14, and exchange it for an empty cookie tin and a map of participating businesses that will have Christmas cookies to fill your tin. A limited number of tins are available, so get your tickets early for $20, at Eventbrite.ca

The 2nd Annual Springhill and Oxford Variety Show is Thurs Nov 15 from 7-9 at the Springhill Baptist Church. There will be a raffle for a Christmas centerpiece. Admission is a donation at the door. Proceeds support the Springhill and Oxford Chapter of the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

The Amherst Artisans Gallery, the Cumberland Hospice and Palliative Care Society and the Amherst Anson 154 Air Cadet Squadron presents the Collins Craft Fair Friday Nov 16 thru Sunday Nov 18, in the Exhibition Center at the Amherst Center. There will be more than 70 Maritime exhibitors, a cafe and food village, live entertainment, a games area and Santa Claus. Weekend entry fee is $5, $4 with a non-perishable food item. Children 12 and under get in free.

The Amherst Area Heritage Trust is presenting An Evening of Art and War, Arthur Lismer Comes To Town, Fri Nov 16 at 8 at the Colonel James Layton Ralston Armoury. There will be a showcase of World War 1 lithographs by renowned artist Arthur Lismer, speakers, musical entertainment, a silent auction, and delicious refreshments.
