There’s an Afternoon Benefit Concert Fundraiser of Ricky Rhindress, Sunday Dec 3 from 1-5, at the Amherst Fire Hall. The benefit will feature Rik Reese and Gypsy Ron, plus other entertainers, and will be hosted by Chris Melanson-Melanson Entertainment Services. There will be draws and a silent auction. Proceeds will help with Ricky’s treatments in Toronto in January.

The 2nd Annual Town vs Gown Charity Hockey Game in Support of the Sackville Food Bank is Sunday at 6:30 at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Center. Representatives from the Town, Emergency Personnel, local businesses, Sackville Minor Hockey and both Titan’s hockey teams, will take on a team made up of Mount Allison staff, Faculty, Students and Alumni. There will be face-painting, competitions during the intermissions, children’s activities, 50/50 tickets and more!

The Patriquin Family and Friends Christmas Concert, is Sunday Dec 3 at 6:30 at the Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Center in Springhill. Tickets are on sale now at the Community Center box office. $7 in advance, $10 at the door, and children under 12 are free. Tickets are also available from Leah Killen at 902-597-8252.

The Amherst Regional High bands and choir will be holding their Christmas concert in the Susan Taylor Theatre, Sun Dec 3 at 7. Donations will be accepted at the door.

The Living Christmas Tree returns to the Amherst First Baptist Church, Monday Dec 4 at 7:30. Admission is a free will offering, with proceeds to the Christmas Cheer boxes.

There will be a Holiday Mixer Networking Event for Small Business, Not For Profits and Entrepreneurs, Tuesday Dec 5 at Cranewood on main from 6:30-8:30. There will be delicious finger food, door prizes and a cash bar. Organizers have decided not to charge people for attending. Instead bring a non-perishable food item for the Sackville Food Bank. The National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women in Amherst will be held Wednesday at noon at the Community Credit Union Innovation Center. Gender-based violence and family violence continues to be a problem. Organizations like Autumn House can deliver information, resources, support and hope to victims.
