The 2017 Amherst Christmas Parade “150 Years of Spirit and Play”, is Saturday, Nov 18 starting at 6. The parade begins downtown on Eddy Street and ends at the Amherst Center. Following the parade, enjoy hot chocolate, a visit with Santa and the float presentations. And take in the United Way’s Festival of Trees Auction of decorated Christmas trees.

St Thomas Aquinas Ladies Council will hold their annual Christmas Tea and Sale, Sun Nov 19 from 11-12:30. There will be lots of tables, with crafts, baking, used Christmas items, fudge and more. They will also have 50/50 and raffle tickets for sale and 3 door prizes. Lunch will be $5.

The Joggins Fossil Center will hold its Annual Christmas Sale, Sunday from 11-2. There will be discounts on merchandise. They will be serving Christmas cookies and tea or coffee. There’s a Tea, Craft and Bake Sale Sunday from 1-3 at the Air Force Association. Tables are $5 by calling 902-667-7076 or 902-667-9262.

There will be a Craft Sale Sunday Nov 19 from 1-4 at the Brookdale Hall. Proceeds to the Happy Neighbors Group of Leicester.

Christmas for Kids, coordinated by the Amherst Lions Club, is underway. The phone line at 902-667-1949 will operate Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Dec. 8. Parents can pick up gifts for their children from Dec. 11 to 15. Angel trees will be up in various locations around Cumberland County including at Dayle’s Grand Market, Scotiabank branches in Oxford and Pugwash, the Pugwash Co-op, Dairy Queen, Archway Insurance, Amherst Pharmasave, Community Credit Union, the Artisans Market…

The JV Boys Basketball team is holding a Paint Night, “ A Winter Barn” with Arlene Collins, Monday Nov 20 at 7 at the Artisans Gallery at the Amherst Center. Tickets are $40 from team members.

Toys for Tots, organized by the Springhill Lions Club runs til Dec 4. It’s located at the Parkview Professional Center at 6 McFarlane Street behind Foodland. Thgey will have a sandwich board outside the door, when the office is open. Then you would be welcome to fill out an application and meet with a Toys for Tots representative.
