The Town of Amherst Blueberry Harvest Festival is Thursday thru Sunday. There will be entertainment in Victoria Square, the Annual Artisans Sidewalk Market, lots of activities in the Kids Zone, a Skateboard Competition, a Blueberry Competition, the Blueberry Beer Garden with C4 and much more For more details go to Amherst.ca or check the Amherst Recreation Department facebook page.  

Thursday, A&W will be celebrating Burgers to Beat MS, to help Canadians living with multiple sclerosis. This year will donate $2 from each Teen Burger sold to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. You can also participate by rounding up your bill at the register, buy a cutout or other in store activities.

Weston Bakeries is holding a BBQ, Thursday from 11-1, at their location in the Amherst Industrial Park. It’s a fundraising event for the Cumberland Health Authority’s Youth Fund, helping support children with mental health issues.

The Summer Reading Club Wrap Up Party is Thursday Aug 24 from 11-12 at the Springhill Library. Celebrate the end of the Summer Reading Club by travelling back to 1867. The Bridge Adult Service Center is holding a Fashion Show, Thursday Aug 24 at 6:30 at 16 Station Street. Bridge clients will doing the modelling. There will be 50/50 draws, sweets and tea or coffee. Admission is $5. For reservations, call 902-667-8433.

The Sackville Street Chalk Art Festival, celebrating Canada’s 150, is Aug 25-26 directly on Bridge Street. Featured artists include traditional Madonnari artist Francois Pelletier and 3-D artist Chalkmaster Dave, but there will be enough chalk for anyone who would like to participate in the Free-For-All area. Amherst Masons are serving Blueberry Breakfast Saturday from 7:30-10:30 at their temple on Lawrence Street. Blueberry pancakes with whipped topping and sausages. The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children, with take-outs available.
