The Age of Sail Museum -The Scotts Timber Show
The Age of Sail Museum in Port Greville is hosting a special event this Saturday. The Scotts Timber Show will do two 45 minute shows at 2 and 4, with free admission. There will be a BBQ and café on site. Saturday is also the FPW Fireman’s Field Day. There will be a parade at noon, and music and games for kids from 1-3.

The Sutherland Steam Mill Museum in Denmark is holding a 4H Woodsman Skills Demonstration, Sunday Aug 6. Pictou and Cumberland woodsmen teams will be demonstrating at 1:30 and 2:30. There will also be hands-on DIY fidget making between 3 and 4. The cost is $10 per child and there is room for 10. For more information, call 902-657-3365.

The St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery Committee will be holding the annual Cemetery Mass on Sunday, August 6th, at 2:30pm. Blessing of the Cemetery is at 2pm. Reception will be held in the parish hall following Mass.

The GO Project, Children's Day Camp is going on the week of August 7th at the Sackville United Baptist Church. It's an enviroment action based day camp experience for children in grades 2-7. Participants will work on projects and activities to contribute to making the world a better place. Bursaries are available for all participants. The cost is $100. If you are a dog owner, the Town of Amherst will be holding public meetings for your input on a proposed, Off Leash Dog Park, for Amherst. The first meeting will be Monday August 8, from noon-2 at the Community Credit Union Innovation Center. Further meetings will be held August 17 and September 7 from 7-9pm also at the CCUBIC.

In honor of the late Dwight Jones, the Town of Amherst will proclaim Wednesday August 9th Dwight Jones Day. Events across the community include the Junior Golf Invitational at the Amherst Golf Club, Music in Victoria Square, First Baptist Church BBQ, and official dedication of the Dwight Jones Field at the Robb Complex followed by a fireworks show over the marsh at dusk.
