The Amherst Masons are serving their monthly Breakfast a week early, Sat May 20 from 7:30-10:30 at their temple on Lawrence St. They will be serving eggs, bacon, sausages, hashbrowns and a drink for $6 adults, $4 for 12 and under.

Tantramar Kennel Club Annual Dog Show

The Tantramar Kennel Club is holding its Annual Dog Show, Sat and Sun May 20 and 21, at the Dr Carson and Marion Murray Community. There will be dogs from all over the Maritimes, Quebec, Ontario and the eastern US. Judging begins both mornings at 8.

A Family Fishing Derby

The Town of Amherst is sponsoring A Family Fishing Derby, Saturday from 9-1 at the Pumping Station Pond. There are 3 age categories, 5 and under, 6-10 and 11-16.  There will be prizes for the largest fish in each category and a grand prize for the largest fish. For more information, call 902-667-3352.

East Coast Music Show

There’s an East Coast Music Show, Sat May 20 at 7:30 at the Capitol Theatre in Oxford. Among the performers will be the Cobequid Funtones, Silver Rose, the Terrio Sisters, Lawry and Mary MacLeod, Claire Canning, Jim Scopie, Elaine Cook, The Rollickers and Leah Killen. Springhill Municipal Office move

To serve the residents of Cumberland County better, the Municipality of the County of Cumberland will be moving from the former Springhill Town Hall to the Dr. Carson and Marion Murray Community Center effective Tuesday. All tax payments, water bills, permits and general inquiries will now be processed at the Community Center 8:30-4:30. Community Services and Probation Services on Thursdays are unchanged, and Springhill RCMP hours and operations will remain unchanged. Sexual Violence-The Bystander Effect Intervention Question and Answer Event

Autumn House and the Sexual Violence Outreach Program a hosting a Sexual Violence-The Bystander Effect Intervention Question and Answer Event, Tue May 23 from 6:30-8:30, at the Community Credit Union Business Center. Bringing in the Bystander states that everyone in the community has a role to play in ending sexual violence. Heather Blackburn, who is a trained facilitator in the Bringing in the Bystander Program, will be the guest speaker.
