National Tartan Day
National Tartan Day in Canada April 6th was proclaimed by the Harper Government on the same date as our National Tartan was proclaimed. (The Maple Leaf Tartan.) Tartan Day was started here in Nova Scotia by the Federation for Scottish Clans and Culture in 1986. For the third consecutive year, the Town of Sackville has partnered with Poet Laureate, Marilyn Lerch, Tidewater Books, all public schools from Dorchester to Port Elgin, Mount Allison students, The Drew Nursing Home and several local poets and writers to celebrate Poetry Month in April.
