The 13th Annual Choirs for Comfort is Sat Feb 11 from 3-6 at the First United Church in Truro. The event will feature 9 choirs and admission is by donation. Proceeds support the Northern Healthy Connections Society.

The RCAF Association have an Open Mic at their club Sat Feb 11 starting at 3. For more information call 902-667-9262.

The Knights of Columbus will be serving breakfast Sat Feb 11 from 8-11 at their hall on Robie Street. The cost is $6.

The Watoto Children’s Choir will be performing at the Crossroads Community Church, Tuesday Feb 14 from 7-9.

Wed Feb 15 is National Flag Day in Canada. You are invited to Amherst Town Hall at 12:15 for brief remarks, then to Victoria Square for the official flag raising.

The Amherst Winter Carnival is Thursday thru Monday Feb 16-20. The theme is Celebrating 150 years of Heart Culture and Play. Among the events a chilli cook-off, seniors paint day, snow sculpture contest, heritage hockey classic and more. Check the complete schedule at amherst.ca

Curl For Cancer is Friday Feb 17 from 6-midnight at the Amherst Curling Club. There will be two draws, and there’s room for 16 teams. The band Second Toe will play at 9 and there will be a 50/50 and a live auction. For more information, call 902-669-1585.

A Midwinter's Day Dream is a celebration of winter tales featuring six local authors. It’s Saturday, February 18, 2 at the Lions Den in Oxford. Charlie Rhindress, Laurie Glenn Norris, Sara Jewell, Monica Graham, Chris Benjamin and Jennifer McGrath will share their stories about winter. Marilyn Williams will be the host. The event is free and there will be refreshments. Tidewater Books of Sackville, will have a book table.
