To celebrate Halloween, the Four Fathers Memorial Library will be showing Ricky Horror Picture Show, Wednesday Oct 30 from 8-10. Go in costume, bring props and feel free to sing along. Warning the show is rated R. You have to 18 or older to attend.  

Symphony NS is coming to Trinity St Stephens United Church, Friday Nov. 1 at 7. Baroque music master Jeanne Lamon and Symphony Nova Scotia pay homage to Bach’s friends, mentors, and inspirations. The Amherst 50+ Club’s 2nd Annual Craft Show, is Saturday Nov 2 from 9-2 at their hall on Croft Street. If you would like a table, they are $10. The kitchen will be open, with chili or soup and dessert and beverage for $7. For more information, call Merrill Murray at 902-694-0428.

There’s Music at the Mall Saturday at the Amherst Center. It’s a drop in day. You never know who will be playing from 9-1 at the Artisans Gallery. Then Boonie Buddies play from 1-3. As always, there will be a cash draw and door prizes.. Ask about the 2nd Annual Collins Christmas Craft Village, beginning Nov 15. And there’s always great food, with Caribbean, Korean and traditional cuisine at the Café.

The Trider’s Trail Run is Saturday Nov 2. The 6k run begins at Trider’s on Anson Avenue at 3. It will end with a post race beer, a commemorative beer glass and Trider’s soap. Register at the Y front desk or on-line at the Running Room or Race Roster. Cost is $30 until Oct 15, $35 after that. There’s a Gospel Benefit Concert for All Saints Anglican Church, Saturday Nov 2. It starts at 6:30 at the All Saints Parish Hall and will feature the music of the Patriquin Family Singers. There will be a silent auction, and they would appreciate a donation during intermission.

There’s a Fundraiser for the historic Church of the Good Shepherd in Tidnish Dock. Music and Song is Sunday Nov 3 at 7, at Christ Church Parish Hall. It will feature Andrew Melanson and Peter Frenette, playing the music of Gordon Lightfoot. Admission is by donation

Christmas For Kids coordinated by the Amherst Lions Club, is back. The Christmas For Kids Center will open Monday Nov 4 and will close Nov 28th, with pick-ups for families Dec 9-13. The referral line will be available Monday to Thursday, at 902-667-1949, for both Christmas For Kids and the Christmas Cheer Food Program.
