The annual Emergency Service Memorial Parade and church service will be held on Sunday. Participants will parade from the Amherst fire station to First Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m., where a church service will be held. Following the service, the participants will parade back to the fire station for a wreath laying ceremony and a moment of silence in honour of honorary and deceased service members.

The River Phillip Community Hall is hosting a Spooktacular Supper Sunday from 4-6. They will be serving chili or lasagna, with apple crisp and ice cream for dessert. They will also have a costume and a carved pumpkin contest. The cost is $12, $6 for children and free for preschoolers.

The Four Fathers Memorial Library will be hosting local author Laurie Glen Norris. She will be reading and discussing her latest novel Found Drown, Tuesday Oct 22 from 7-8.

Spirits Walk in Downtown Amherst, Thursday Oct 24 from 4-8. It’s Trick or Treating for adults. Visit participating stores throughout downtown Amherst, to sample Witches Brew from craft breweries and distilleries, enjoy tasty treats and magical tricks.  

There’s a Halloween Party at the Springhill Library, Thursday Oct 24 from 3-4 for grades P-6. Go in costume for a Howling Good Time and some snacks. Children under 9, must be accompanied by an adult. The Springhill Oxford Chapter of the Kidney Foundation, is holding their 3rd Annual Variety Show, featuring local musicans, Thursday Oct 24. It’s from 7-9 in the CIBC Room at the Dr Carson and Marion Murray Community Center. Admission is by donation. You could win a door prize or a Christmas Basket.
