Roy Maltby Fundy Hockey School

The 36th Annual Roy Maltby Fundy Hockey School is coming Sept 3-10. The cost is $150 for players and $75 for goalies. Participants will get 10 hours of ice time, including 2 games. Register at rmfhs.ca and follow them on facebook for more details.

CARMA Adoptathon

There’s a CARMA Adoptathon Saturday Sept 7 from 10-2 at Pet Valu Amherst. There are many cats looking for forever homes. There’s an album on the CARMA site called Adoptable Cats/Kittens. Applications can be picked up in advance at Pet Valu or on the CARMA facebook page.

Multicultural Color Festival

The Multicultural Association of Cumberland is celebrating diversity in Cumberland County by hosting a Multicultural Color Festival, Saturday Sept 7 from 10:30-1 at Dickey Park and Splash Pad. This festival is inspired by Indian Holi Festival. Music at the Mall

Community Shred/Household Hazardous Waste Event

Friday there will be a Community Shred Event at the Amherst Fire Hall for residential materials from 11-2. Saturday, There will be a Hazardous Waste Event at the Amherst Fire hall from 9-noon. What’s accepted? Acids, aerosols, antifreeze, batteries, gasoline, herbicides, pesticides, propane tanks and pool cleaners. There are Household Hazardous Waste Events on Saturday Oct 5 in Cumberland County, to make-up for the one postponed from Sept 7.

Music at the Mall

CANCELED EMO Exercise

East Cumberland Lodge in Pugwash will be holding a practical exercise, Wednesday Sept 11, to test their emergency plans.  Throughout the exercise, there will be communication over radios that refer to urgent situations and may be heard by some scanner listeners.  Also there will be a response by the Fire and police as part of the exercise.  Just to let you know that the sights or sounds are part of the exercise and not an actual event.
