Amherst to Amherst Walking Challenge
Amherst, New Hampshire., Amherst, New York, and Amherst, N.S., have challenged each other to see which community can walk the farthest in February. Each community will start their walks here in Amherst. Each community is also challenged to see how many other communities named Amherst they can reach in North America, as they travel a pre-determined route, and who can get there first. Dr. Janneke Gradstein is running to support the Emergency Department at the Cumberland Health Care Center. Dr. Gradstein will run a full marathon of 42.2 km to honor those who work so diligently, and with enormous dedication, in the ER. The run is planned for Saturday, February 27th. She is asking individuals, groups or businesses to sponsor one of those 42kms for $50 each. Learn to Lead Cumberland, the Amherst Recreation Department and Parrsboro Recreation and St. John Ambulance are holing a Virtual Babysitters Course, Saturday from 1-4 on Zoom.
