The Town of Amherst is collecting nominations of individuals who deserve special recognition. You can find the Amherst Volunteer Nomination application form on the Amherst Recreation Departments facebook page or at Amherst.ca/recreation-department. Those you nominate will be honored during National Volunteer Week in April. You can also nominate an individual for the Provincial Volunteer Award. Deadline for nominations is Jan 18. Drop them off at Amherst Town Hall or the Amherst Recreation Department at the Amherst Stadium, or email amherstrecreation.ca

The Amherst Fire Department Glow Bingo is back by popular demand, Friday Jan 18 at 6, upstairs at the Amherst Fire Hall. Wear your favorite glow in the dark shirt and get your glow in the dark daubers. There will be a cash bar and music from a dj. Glow bingo prices are the same as regular bingo.

The CARMA adoptathon is January 19th from 2 to 5 at the Amherst Kodokan Judo Academy at 189 Church Street. Applications can be sent in advance. They are available at Pet Valu and on CARMA’s Facebook page. If your application is pre-approved, you can take cat of choice home with you on adoption day.

There’s a Little Black Dress - Ladies Night Out Saturday from 6 till midnight at the Knights of Columbus Hall - will all money raised going to a peewee house team. The Town of Sackville and the Sports Wall of Fame Board of Directors, are hosting the Sackville Sports Recognition Night. The event honors those who, through their athletic endeavours, have brought recognition to their hometown in 2018 at provincial levels or higher. You are invited to forward names of local athletes, teams, coaches, officials and volunteers to be recognized Tuesday, January 22, at 6 at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre.
