The CARMA adoptathon is January 19th from 2 to 5 at the Amherst Kodokan Judo Academy at 189 Church Street. Applications can be sent in advance.  They are available at Pet Valu and on CARMA’s Facebook page.  If your application is pre-approved, you can take cat of choice home with you on adoption day.

There’s a Little Black Dress - Ladies Night Out Saturday from 6 till midnight at the Knights of Columbus Hall - will all money raised going to a peewee house team. We will have a waiter auction, appetizer and desserts, 50/50, door prizes, a night away prize and a grand prize. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by texting or calling Miranda at 902-297-4063.

The Town of Sackville and the Sports Wall of Fame Board of Directors, are hosting the Sackville Sports Recognition Night. The event honors those who, through their athletic endeavours, have brought recognition to their hometown in 2018 at provincial levels or higher. You are invited to forward names of local athletes, teams, coaches, officials and volunteers to be recognized Tuesday, January 22, at 6 at the Tantramar Veterans Memorial Civic Centre.

There will be an Agricultural Symposium, Growing Our Economy, Thursday Jan 24, at the Community Credit Union Business Innovation Center. This a free event, with panels and sessions on a number agricultural issues. There will also be information from industry and government kiosks. Registration is required. Call 902-667-8186. If you are a parent or caregiver, looking for support or education in your journey, Maggie’s Place has a six week program might be just for you. Hey, Who’s in Control will help you with problem-solving, discipline, anger management, communication, and challenging behavior. The program is free and runs  Thursday's, 9:30-11:30, Jan 24-Feb 28. Wing Night returns to the Joggins Legion, Friday starting at 6. $6 for an order of wings, with music from Al Cooper.

Cumberland County 4H Tours is hosting a Breakfast, Sat Jan 26 8-11, at the Amherst Lions Center. They will be serving scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and more. The cost is $7. Proceeds support Cumberland County 4H Tours.

Maggie’s Place, CANU and Cumberland Public Libraries are hosting Razzmatazz, Saturday Jan 26 from 11-12 at the Knights of Columbus Hall. From 10:30-11 there will be a book pantry, face painting and snacks. The event is free and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
